Spring has arrived, and so has the latest update on Choteau’s paw-some dog park! The Choteau Dog Park committee is wagging their tails with excitement as the weather begins to thaw, and they can start working on new developments to make the park even more fur-tastic.

Here’s what’s in store for the coming weeks: First up, the gravel walkways from the gates to the pergola area will be laid down, and the area will also be gravelled. Next, a water line from the Weatherbeater to a spigot that will serve both areas will be installed.

But wait, there’s more! The committee has also planned to construct a pergola, which will be 16 x 24 feet and straddle the fence between big and small dogs. It will have open sides, with a solid fence on the west (back) side to provide wind protection. A sloped shed roof will offer shade and protect visitors and their furry friends from the sun, rain, and snow. Finally, the fence construction is scheduled to begin on May 8, subject to weather and other factors.

The Choteau Dog Park committee is thrilled to create the ultimate dog park, thanks to the T-Mobile Hometown grant. But they need your help to keep the park running! You can contribute financially by donating to the Friends of the Choteau Community Dog Park, 501(c)3 a non-profit organization run by volunteers. The Park also needs volunteers to assist with mowing and maintenance, and to help organize events. If you’re interested in lending a paw, please visit our website to learn more.

So, come on down to the Choteau Dog Park and join the tail-wagging fun! With these exciting new developments, it’s sure to be a paw-some experience for you and your furry friends!
